I started curling at 17 to give me a break from studying – it allowed me to focus on something other than my books. I do enjoy other sports and activities including golf ( handicap 19 ), skiing (intermediate), cooking (wholesome rather than cordon bleu) and running ( 10k in sub 50mins, but not at the moment ). I have a supportive husband – he curls, golfs, and skis too but plays tennis instead of running. We are both CAs and together we run an insurance broking business. We have two daughters – Katy, a curler and 4th year Pharmacy student and Claire, a dancer and 6th year student hoping to study Business. The other woman in our lives is Cassie our fun-loving, but a bit ditsy cocker spaniel. Whenever I think of my curling career, I think how lucky I have been.

I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and my husband Jon and I moved to the Edinburgh area in 1986 with his work. Shortly after that a friend introduced us both to curling and we have been hooked ever since. In my working life, I worked in IT, in the administration of VMS and then Unix systems for the British Geological Survey, but latterly doing data management and database programming for large sets of geological data. Since retiring 3 years ago, I have been more involved in daytime curling and am currently the minute secretary for the Ladies Standing Committee of the RCCC and treasurer of my local Ladies Centre at Murrayfield. I lead a reasonably active life, and enjoy walking and cycling, as well as reading and creating things in the kitchen.

Retired from education, I’ve never been busier training as a coach and qualifying as a Royal Caledonian Curling Club Coach Educator, delivering courses and assessing trainees across Scotland. From a family of curlers, Curling is my passion. I play in 2 clubs, Greenacres Ladies CC and Reform CC, whose members get great opportunities to play abroad. Since 2010, hubby David and I have participated in the Ottawa Valley Curling Association/Renfrewshire 12th Province tour competing ‘seriously’ for the 4-yearly Friendship Cup! Living by the sea, our main summer pastime is boating, as well as all year round fine dining in & out, reading, concerts, theatre and spending time with friends and family.

I am the 55yr old wife of John (also a curler) from Dundee and Mother to 2 girls Mairi age 28 living in Vancouver and Laura age 30 living in London. I work as a Practice Nurse in a very busy General Practice specialising in Respiratory and Diabetes. I also teach Highland Dancing to children age 3-18yrs.
My main passions in life are skiing and curling (of course). I enjoy taking my pupils to highland games to dance in the summer and also love walking especially in the hills of Scotland.
I recently became president of my curling club (Panmure, Forfar) and along with my new assistant coach qualification I try and help out my local ice rink (Dundee) bring on new adult curlers and this in turn helps boost our club membership. I feel honoured to be picked to represent Scotland and am very excited about Canadian tour!

I am married to Bobby, an Agriculture sales consultant. We have no children, and live in the country near the picturesque village of New Abbey, 7 miles from the county town of Dumfries in South West Scotland. I was introduced to curling at an early age by my parents, but only joined New Abbey Curling Club in 1982 when I got married.
I worked in the bank until 2012, when fortunately for me, I received voluntary redundancy. I now have the opportunity to spend more time on curling, golfing, and walking our cocker spaniel. I am looking forward to the experience of touring Central Canada, visiting new places and meeting new people

I am a retired specialist radiographer (mammography). My husband John is a farmer. We have three children; Gavin and his wife have two sons with whom I spend a lot of quality time and child mind, David and his wife live in Brisbane and have three daughters. My daughter Hannah, after graduating came home to Lockerbie to work and to continue her curling career. We have a livery on the farm and I enjoy the horse activities that this entails. I assist with coaching at Lockerbie ice rink. I gain great pleasure in encouraging beginners and hope that my enthusiasm and enjoyment of our sport rubs off on them. Having just returned from a holiday in Oman where I camped in the desert and sailed in the Indian Ocean I must add that I do like a little bit of adventure.

I live in Prestwick on the South West coast of Scotland with my husband Rob. We retired from our own business two years ago and now have more time to enjoy our sports of curling and golf. I am past Lady Captain of our golf club which is a links course looking over the Firth of Clyde to the island of Arran and also to Ailsa Craig where they cut the granite for the curling stones – if the golf is not up to much there is always a beautiful view to enjoy! I have three grown up children who now all live locally and two wonderful grandsons – being a Granny is the best job I have ever had!
I visited Ontario in 1996 for a family wedding and I am looking forward to returning to this beautiful part of the world and curling in Canada.

I am a mother of four - 2 girls 2 boys. Susie the oldest is living and working in Australia, Jamie lives in Dundee and works for the SGU and coaches & plays hockey, Abbie and Fergus are both at Uni in Aberdeen. All the kids are keen on sports. Married to Graeme, we live and work on a farm together and have done for 33 years. I qualified as a nurse before we married and worked off and on between having the children but gave nursing up to concentrate on the children and working on the farm with Graeme. After the youngest went to school I started curling and really haven't looked back, I really enjoy the game and the social side of it too. I am a member of Forfar Ladies CC and at present I'm the secretary and a past President and have also been the President of the Forfar Ladies Centre. Graeme and I both golf and bike together and also do a bit of Geocaching and walking to explore the countryside. Other interests I have are RNLI, Scouting & the Church. I am really looking forward to our "Tour" and have never been to Canada before, I’m sure it will be a great experience. |

I was born and brought up in Edinburgh, but now live in Lenzie, a village NE of Glasgow with my husband Gary. He was a GP (family doctor) and I worked as a nurse in general practice though not his!! We both retired a couple of years ago, and love it. We have 3 sons, 2 married, one a few days ago as I write this, and have a one year old grandson.
We both love curling, skiing and golf and occasional scuba diving if we are anywhere warm enough! I have been lucky enough to have curled in Canada, USA, Sweden and the Czech Republic, and we are going to Italy in June to curl in a summer spiel. One of the best experiences was being part of the Renfrewshire Province, Ottawa Valley Friendship tour, where we met and made friends with a good number of folk from that area. I look forward to playing in Canada again and meeting lots of new and possibly old friends.

I live on my own in a lovely part of rural Aberdeenshire, surrounded by rolling hills and unassuming golf courses, both of which I take full advantage of. There are big hills and some quite grand golf courses too but not so tempting to one of my meagre talents in those fields.
Although I first studied Zoology I eventually found my way into Social Work from which I retired three years ago. Now I have time to please myself which of my many interests to indulge on any one day. As well as curling, hill-walking and golf, I swim regularly, garden, take art classes and sing in a choir. I enjoy wildlife-watching, cooking, reading and socialising with friends.
I have no husband or children to tell you about - however my brother Peter was on the last Strathcona Cup tour and my sister-in-law Anne captained the last Scottish ladies tour to Canada.

Have just attained official OAP status ,the only plus side to this being a free bus pass in Scotland. Actually I am one of a few English cuckoos on this tour-myself from Durham almost a Geordie. Presently living on a small, mainly arable, family farm of100 ha just outside Edinburgh run by my husband of 37 yrs Joe and our son Daniel.
My great loves apart from husband 2 children and 7 grandchildren are my riding and curling. I have virtually retired from all farm work now apart from bookkeeping and the small DIY livery yard.
The most exciting curling moment for me came in 2012 when our seniors team won the Scottish championships and then went on to gain a silver medal at the Senior World Championships in Denmark beaten by you guessed it Heidi Hanlon's Canadian team.
Very much looking forward to meeting you all in November.

I live with my partner of 20 years Lockhart Steele, in a small town named Carluke and we live 11 miles away from our local ice rink, Hamilton where Lockhart is the Ice Rink Manager. Lockhart was part of the gents Strathcona Cup Tour of 2013.
