Messages from the Team Captain and Canadian Tour Co-ordinator
Margaret Richardson
During the past 12 months, 24 lady curlers selected from all corners of Scotland have come together to plan and organise this 3 week tour of Quebec and Ontario, Canada. At all times we have been assisted and guided by both past Tourists in Scotland and by our Canadian Courier, Fran Todd.
It has been a lot of hard work, but great fun as we have curled at Hamilton, Greenacres and Kinross, cooked in Kilmarnock, golfed and bowled in Blairgowrie and sang and danced in Forfar.
As we move towards the final few weeks of preparation we will come together at Hamilton for a weekend of curling and socialising with past Tourists.
On 6 November we will depart from Edinburgh Airport via Schiphol bound for Montreal and from there we will be in the capable hands of our Canadian Couriers as we travel through Quebec, Ontario and Northern Ontario playing in 22 friendly games and taking in some of the beautiful sights of this wonderful country.
This is a once in a life time trip and if we have as much fun on the Tour as we have had planning and organising it then it will be a truly memorable trip for all who take part.
If you have found your way to this website, then you may be a fellow Tourist, a relative, friend or acquaintance of a fellow Tourist or just an interested party who would like to know how we are doing and what we get up to on our Tour.
All are welcome to follow our progress and to enjoy the Tour as the remainder of the story unfolds.
Yours in curling,
Margaret MSC Richardson Tour Captain 2015 Canadian Tour
Fran Todd
During the past 18 months, many hours have been spent creating an interesting and fun-filled itinerary for the 24 Scottish women curlers coming to tour Quebec and Ontario in November 2015. Our Team:
Jane Baggetta from Mississauga has been my go-to person for all aspects of this tour. Jane and I not only curl together at the Dixie Curling Club once a week but we were roommates on the 2010 Canadian Women’s Tour to Scotland and spent three weeks together touring South Africa last February. We have a River Cruise in Europe planned for next August. She is a good friend and has been invaluable in the planning of this tour.
Catherine Hughes from Montreal is assisting me in finalizing all the details during our stay in Quebec City and Montreal. Cathy will be spending the first seven days with the tour group and then re-joining us in Niagara Falls for the last four days. Cathy is a very busy lady as this past June, she was elected to the Curling Canada, Board of Governors. I am very fortunate to have Cathy on my team.
Helen Stewart from Sault Ste. Marie is assisting with the planning of our stay in Northern Ontario (4 days between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie). Helen was also on the 2010 Canadian Women’s Tour to Scotland and has been back to Scotland numerous times as she has family there. Helen will be flying back to Toronto with us and joining the tour group for the last 7 days.
Our team has received support from Curling Canada and the three provincial curling associations, Curling Quebec, Ontario Curling Association and the Northern Ontario Curling Associations.
We wish to thank the twenty-four curling centres and their volunteers for donating their ice and for hosting the Scottish curlers during this exciting and memorable three week tour.
We are looking forward to November 6th as we welcome the Scottish curlers in Montreal.
Cheers,
Fran Todd, - Tour Coordinator, 2015 Scottish Women’s Curling Tour to Canada
